Fred Baldwin Memorial Grant Awards Funds for New Healthcare Facility Computers

LCHC- Almost Complete

Lāna`i Community Health Center has been awarded a grant from the Fred Baldwin Memorial Foundation to improve technology in the healthcare facility currently under construction, scheduled to open late 2015, early 2016.
“We are honored to have received the Fred Baldwin Memorial grant,” says Diana Shaw, executive director of Lāna`i Community Health Center. “The grant provides us with the ability to purchase some of the necessary computer equipment for our new healthcare facility and to continue to accommodate patient care needs on Lāna`i.”

Diana shared that the Fred Baldwin Memorial Grant of $5,800 will go towards the purchase and upgrade of front desk computers and monitors for dental exam chairs. The computer monitors for dental chairs are used to review x-ray images with patients, and for children to view entertaining educational videos during dental cleanings and procedures. In addition, the front desk computers will be used for patient in-take, electronic medical record documentation, and access of education materials for patients.

The Fred Baldwin Memorial Foundation supports nonprofit programs that benefit the people of Maui County. Lāna`i Community Health Center’s mission is to take care of the community of Lāna`i. Incorporated in 2004 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the health center’s focus is on patients’ physical, mental, emotional, intellectual and spiritual welfare to enrich and empower their lives to help build healthy families in a supportive environment. The mission is carried out by directly providing health services (primary care, dental, behavioral health, and some specialty) to the community; providing activities and services through partnerships with local organizations as well as the many off-island organizations.

Lāna`i Community Health Center is in the final stages of building a 6,800-square foot healthcare facility centrally located in the heart of Lanai City where the majority of the island’s approximate 3,100 residents reside. More information can be found at lanaihealth.org or by calling 808-565-6919 x 121. The Community is our Patient –- men, women, children, uninsured, insured!
