The Lāna'i Community Health Center’s mission is to take care of the community of Lāna`i by directly providing health services (primary care, dental, behavioral health and selected specialty services) to the community; providing activities and services through partnerships with local organizations as well as the many off-island organizations reaching out to Lāna`i by serving as coordinator, advocate, resource, initiator, and convener;
and working collaboratively to provide space for partners who can provide needed services for Lāna`i.

Born and raised in Pukalani, Maui, Carlys Higuchi began providing services at the Health Center in December 2014. Dr. Higuchi attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon where she earned her Bachelors degree in Exercise Science in 2002. She was later accepted into Pacific University College of Optometry and earned her doctorate in Optometry in 2006. After completing internships in Oklahoma, Alaska, and Washington, she decided to move back home to practice. During her spare time, Dr. Higuchi enjoys yoga, surfing, traveling, reading, and community service. She is a member of the Lions Club and has traveled to Africa and Thailand as a volunteer to provide free eye care services in remote areas. Dr. Higuchi looks forward to continue serving her home community as well as the Lāna’i Community Health Center.
