The Lāna'i Community Health Center’s mission is to take care of the community of Lāna`i by directly providing health services (primary care, dental, behavioral health and selected specialty services) to the community; providing activities and services through partnerships with local organizations as well as the many off-island organizations reaching out to Lāna`i by serving as coordinator, advocate, resource, initiator, and convener;
and working collaboratively to provide space for partners who can provide needed services for Lāna`i.

Dr. Don Sand, DDS earned his Doctoral of Dental Surgery Degree from Loma Linda University and has completed a Hospital Dentistry Residency. He previously worked in private practice in Palm Springs, California specializing in cosmetic dentistry and periodontics. He has been working in the Community Health sector for 6 years and has a vision to join together all our Hawaiian community health centers together for developing shared preventative dental program resources.
Dr. Sand’s passions include setting up a dental outreach non-profits and dental think tanks. In school, Dr. sand founded a mission organization called S.I.M.S later converted to SACHSs Dental Clinics to help create more capacity to help the under served in Loma Linda. He has gone on many mission trips to Mexico, Guatemala, and India. His favorite trip was working with Mother Teresa in Calcutta doing dentistry in the leprosy village called Tigitar. Dr. Sand was the Co-Director of the Convoy of Hope, a homeless outreach effort yearly at the Aloha Stadium and is a charter member of the Hawaii Oral Health Coalition, the re-establishment of our State’s dental. Dr. Sand enjoys ocean sports, video, film production and learning about the Hawaiian history, culture, & values.
