The Lāna'i Community Health Center’s mission is to take care of the community of Lāna`i by directly providing health services (primary care, dental, behavioral health and selected specialty services) to the community; providing activities and services through partnerships with local organizations as well as the many off-island organizations reaching out to Lāna`i by serving as coordinator, advocate, resource, initiator, and convener;
and working collaboratively to provide space for partners who can provide needed services for Lāna`i.

In December 2014, Karsten Lee began providing services at the Health Center. Born in San Francisco and raised in Dana Point, California, Dr. Lee attended UC Berkeley as an undergraduate on a merit-based scholarship. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology and played intercollegiate volleyball. Dr. Lee earned his Doctorate in Optometry from UC Berkeley in 2003. Since 1995, Dr. Lee has worked in the optical field and was awarded a Practice Management award, Ophthalmic Dispensing award, and a Pediatric Vision award while at the School of Optometry. After graduation, Dr. Lee began practicing optometry on Oahu and eventually moved to Maui full time in 2005. He enjoys playing beach volleyball and volunteering for outreach eye missions to third world countries.
