Dr. Cori Takesue is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist who has been an integral part of the Lāna‘i Community Health Center since February 2014. In August 2020, she stepped into the role of Director of Behavioral Health, where she leads with expertise and compassion.
Dr. Takesue’s educational journey began with a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling with a Marriage and Family Therapy emphasis from Argosy University-Honolulu. She then pursued her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University – San Francisco Campus. A native of Oahu, Dr. Takesue’s roots in the Hawaiian islands have shaped her approach to healthcare and community service.
Her clinical training was primarily conducted in the San Francisco Bay area, where she provided individual psychotherapy and psychoeducational groups across diverse treatment settings. Dr. Takesue’s experience spans from partial to inpatient hospitalization, outpatient services, schools, community mental health, and forensic and correctional facilities.
Dr. Takesue’s professional interests are multifaceted, including health psychology, where she assists individuals with chronic health conditions in making impactful lifestyle changes. She is also deeply invested in the treatment of serious mental illness, tobacco cessation, and working with at-risk adolescent youth.
Outside of her clinical practice, Dr. Takesue is an avid outdoor enthusiast. She finds balance and rejuvenation in nature, whether it’s hiking, biking, climbing, or enjoying various beach activities. Her love for the outdoors complements her holistic approach to health and well-being, both for herself and the individuals she serves.
