Taryn was born and raised in Hawaii Kai, Oahu. She is a 2013 Kamehameha Schools graduate and obtained her Bachelor’s in Nursing at the University of San Francisco (USF). In college, she worked as an emergency medical technician for the San Francisco County and tutored nursing students, finding a passion for community medicine, teaching, and Asian-American and Pacific Islander health. She completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at USF’s Family Nurse Practitioner Program while also working full time as an emergency room nurse. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, cares for two cats, reads, roller skates, and gardens.
