Wilma Costales Koep has been a cornerstone of community support since her initial appointment as Community and Outreach Education Specialist in October 2006. Her dedication and expertise led to her promotion to supervisor of the Community and Outreach Education Division in September 2013, a role in which she continues to make a significant impact.
In her capacity as supervisor, Wilma provides invaluable public benefits assistance to the Lāna‘i community. She is well-versed in navigating programs such as TANF, Medicaid and Quest, Food Stamps/Financial Assistance, Subsidized Housing, and Child Care Subsidy, ensuring that community members have access to the resources they need.
Originally from Magsingal, Ilocos Sur in the Philippines, Wilma brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her work. She maintains her credentials with the Legal Society of Hawai’i, a testament to her commitment to staying current with legal and social service practices.
Wilma’s educational background is as diverse as her career, holding an associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from University of Hawaii, Maui College and a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Baguio, Philippines. Her professional journey prior to joining LCHC includes roles as a program assistant at Aloha House Extension, an English Language Learners (ELL) part-time teacher at Lāna‘i High and Elementary School, and a Forestry Technician in Tuba, Benguet, Philippines.
Active in both her community and her church, Wilma is a respected figure whose work extends beyond her professional duties. Her contributions to the community are driven by a deep sense of service and a desire to uplift those around her.
