Welcome to Lāna`i Community Health Center

The Lāna'i Community Health Center's mission is to take care of the community of Lānai by directly providing health services (primary care, dental, behavioral health, and selected specialty services) to the community, providing activities and services through partnerships with local organizations as well as the many off-island organizations reaching out to Lānai by serving as coordinator, advocate, resource, initiator, and convener; and working collaboratively to provide space for partners who can provide needed services for Lāna'i.

  • Hawaii Community Foundation awards $125,000 to establish Lanai Women’s Center (LWC)
  • Jody Payne and Ted Mallon donated $125,000 to Hawaii Community Foundation Koa Fund

2003

  • Contest to establish organization’s logo;
  • Heidi Vogel’s Pineapple Logo adopted as LWC logo

2004

 

  • WC incorporates
  • First meeting of the LWC Committee, co-chaired by LWC founding mothers: Phyllis McOmber and Jackie Woolsey

2005

  • Apartment (624A Houston Street) lease signed with Castle & Cooke– the soon-to-be-named Jody’s Place
  • LWC granted 501c3, non-profit status
  • Received $45,000 from Maui Economic Development Board; fiscal sponsor relationship

2006

  • LWC submits FQHC 330e application
  • Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Collaboration meeting with Hawaii Department of Health
  • LWC hires its first employees
  • LWC meets with Hawaii Primary Care Association and Hawaii Department of Health
  • Jody’s Place opens, providing women’s care services by Molokai Women’s Health Center

  • LWC signs lease with Castle & Cooke for 478 Lauhala place, clinical service site; 624A Houston Street site remains administration and outreach site
  • FQHC 330e status awarded to LWC
  • Count of Maui Community Development Black Grant funding awarded for design of new 6800 sq. ft. facility

  • First patients seen at Lauhala Place site

2009

  • Lease for 333 6th Street. With option to subdivide and purchase, signed with Castle & Cooke; site of new 6800 sq. ft. facility
  • LWC name legally changed to Lanai Community Health Center (LCHC)

  • New facility design finalized

  • Purchase of 333 6th Street property
  • Subdivision finalized

  • Groundbreaking for new facility
