Shelly serves as a dedicated Medical Assistant at the Lanai Community Health Center (LCHC), where her commitment to patient care and community health is evident in her daily work. Her academic journey at Heald College not only earned her a place on the Dean’s List but also equipped her with enhanced communication skills and valuable hands-on learning experiences that she now applies in her role at LCHC.
Driven by a passion for helping others, Shelly goes above and beyond her responsibilities at the health center. She is an active volunteer at local community events, including the Pineapple Festival, Festival of Aloha, and the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, where she supports food vendors and contributes to the success of these gatherings.
As a mother of five children, three boys and two girls, Shelly’s life is full of energy and joy. She finds balance and rejuvenation in outdoor activities, such as going to the beach, hiking, exercising, and hunting. These pursuits not only keep her connected to the natural beauty of Lāna‘i but also allow her to share her love for the island with her children.
Lāna‘i holds a special place in Shelly’s heart as her forever home. It’s the ideal environment for her to raise her family, surrounded by a tight-knit community where everyone is treated like family. Her love for the island is as deep as her commitment to the well-being of its residents, making her an invaluable member of both the LCHC team and the Lāna‘i community.
