Chelsea Tadena’s tenure at the Lanai Community Health Center (LCHC) exemplifies her multifaceted talents and consistently positive attitude. Since her start in August 2011, Chelsea has successfully navigated through a variety of roles, each time demonstrating her adaptability and unwavering commitment to the center’s mission. Her career progression from Research Assistant and Front Desk Representative to Medical Assistant, ECW Super User, and IT Coordinator has led to her current esteemed position as Medical Manager.
In her leadership role, Chelsea is a fervent advocate for patient-centered care, a philosophy that influences her daily interactions and management style. Her healthcare career began in Lahaina, Maui, in 2007 at West Maui Health Care Center, and since then, she has been on a path of continuous professional development. A Lahainaluna High School graduate, Chelsea’s early work experience includes positions at Doctor’s on Call and as a drink server at Kimo’s Restaurant on Front Street in Lahaina. After relocating to Lāna‘i, she completed the LCHC Phlebotomy Training Program, the Certified Medical Biller Program, and the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Program, enhancing her professional skill set.
As Medical Manager, Chelsea oversees the Medical Assistants and Referral Specialists, managing the operational aspects of the health center with a commitment to precision, policy compliance, and safety. Her proactive approach and strategic planning are instrumental in the continuous improvement of health center operations.
Chelsea’s bond with Lāna‘i extends beyond her professional commitments. She enjoys snorkeling, shell collecting, and spending time at the beach with friends. Her regular trips back to Maui are treasured opportunities to reconnect with her family, niece, and nephews. Chelsea’s passion for movies, music, and the rich history of the island further deepens her connection to the community.
At home, Chelsea’s caring nature is evident in her devotion to her beloved pets: King the dog, Ninja the turtle, and an array of colorful fishes. These pets bring additional joy and companionship to her life.
