Raised on the west side of Oahu in Kapolei, she is an alumna of Kamehameha Schools Kapalama. Melorie pursued higher education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she earned her BS in Dental Hygiene.

During her time in college, Melorie’s commitment to her community and her leadership potential were recognized when she was nominated by her employer, Native Hawaiian Student Services, and honored with the Next Generation Native Hawaiian Leader Award. Additionally, her academic excellence and dedication to serving underserved communities earned her the prestigious Native Hawaiian Health Scholar recognition.

This scholarship paved the way for Melorie to work on Lāna‘i as a licensed dental hygienist, providing essential care in a rural setting. Since moving to Lāna‘i, she has embraced the “country lifestyle” and deepened her practice of Hawaiian culture, further enriching her life and work.

In her leisure time, Melorie enjoys a variety of activities that reflect her love for the Hawaiian islands and her cultural heritage. Melorie is committed to serving the Lāna‘i community, focusing on patient education and the importance of dental hygiene for maintaining beautiful, healthy smiles. As a mother of two sons and a dog owner, she understands the value of family and the impact of good health practices on all aspects of life.
